The GST collections for September came in at Rs 1.17 lakh crore

The GST collections for September touched 1.17 lakh crores compared to Rs 1.12 lakh crores in August. The collection numbers show that the economy is growing, resulting in consistent collections, which will aid in meeting the budget deficit target of 6.8% of GDP.

Most important manufacturing states reported increases of 20% or more compared to the previous year, indicating that an economic recovery is well underway across the major states, said M S Mani, Senior Director, Deloitte.

Central GST is Rs 20,578 crores, state GST is Rs 26,767 crores, integrated GST is Rs 60,911 crores (including Rs 29,555 crores collected on goods imports), and cess is Rs 8,754 crores (including Rs 623 crores collected on goods imports). Anti-evasion operations, including action against fake billers, have also contributed to the increased GST revenues, according to the government.

Revenue from imports of products were 30 percent higher during the month, while revenues from domestic transactions were 20 percent higher than during the same month the previous year.
